We are excited to share that Dr. Chris Schmidt, ATu Education Lead and Director of Faculty Development was featured on the Wrap It Up Podcast. Episode 61, “We Are Educators First,” highlights the educator mindset and the meaningful role teachers play in shaping confident learners.
The Wrap It Up team created a thoughtful space for Chris to reflect on his journey, teaching philosophy, and how educators can support students through complex learning experiences.
Serving with an Educator’s Heart
“I am an educator at heart and still have the desire to serve and support others.”
This simple but powerful statement captures the heart of teaching, the purpose behind ATu, and the deeper motivation that drives educators to guide students toward meaningful growth.
Teaching with Evidence Based Confidence
Chris also discussed how challenging it can be for students to sort through information on their own and how ATu helps educators guide them more effectively.
“Instead of going on Google and wondering if that video is right, you can check this out because we use everything from a scientific standpoint.”
He continued by emphasizing how ATu supports students in understanding what strong evidence looks like:
“You can use ATu to help your students navigate what is good research, what is good evidence, and what is not.”
Educators Shaping Future Practice
One of the most meaningful reflections came when Chris shared the long-term impact that educators have on patient care:
“I can help other teachers and students navigate these concepts and learn. Down the road they are going to impact a patient and improve [the patient’s quality of life], and that is what it is all about.”
This resonates deeply with the spirit of ATu: supporting educators so they can shape future clinicians with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
