Maiko is an Education Lead for Japan at PhysioU. As a native of Osaka, Japan, she is passionate about positively impacting the Japanese physical therapy education level. She has interpreted countless lectures on Movement System Syndromes by Dr. Shirley Sahrmann into Japanese, and is one of the Japanese translators of the textbook “Movement System Impairment Syndromes of the Extremities, Cervical and Thoracic Spines.” Maiko has been teaching Japanese physical therapists on movement analysis and treatment since 2019, and mentors clinicians locally in the Los Angeles area. She was one of the mentors for the Movement System Clinical Fellowship at WashU Medicine Physical Therapy. Since 2022, she has been a lead organizer for the flagship Movement System Syndromes courses held at WashU.
